* Provides a simple interface and allows you to use multiple graph patterns (graphlets).* Supports the calculation of graphlet degree vectors for all the proteins included in a PPI network, and for only specific nodes of the network.* Provide the user with a data output file, in which the degree vector for each protein is saved (or the number of occurrences of each graphlet in the input network).* Calculates all the possible graphlets for a given size and complexity level in a simple and effective manner.

Graphlets are small, local and efficient patterns for exploring the topology of a protein interaction network. We are interested in those small patterns that can capture the local properties of the network. Usually, complex patterns, like the ones used by others authors, are not able to detect the low-degree nodes in the network, as those small nodes are not included in a lot of patterns.

Graphlets were used in the first place to find and detect protein complexes [@maslov2002]. The tool in the GraphletDB database [@estevez2013graphletdb] presents graphlets up to the size of 4. In this paper we use a larger number of graphlets to detect protein complexes. We use the tool provided by the GRAFo toolbox [@schwikowski2014graphlet] to obtain a list of graphlets for a size between 1 and 10.

A graphlet for a specific size $s$ is defined as a set of $s$ nodes in which all the nodes have a degree of 2. Once the graphlets for the selected size are obtained, the user can select specific nodes of the network to calculate the degree vector. Once the degree vector is obtained for each node, it can be saved and the user can save it as a file in a simple text format (CSV, XLS). The program also allows the user to calculate the degree vector for all the proteins in the network, or only for specific nodes (for example, for a protein or a hub node). When only specific nodes are selected, the program will save only the degree vector for each protein.

Once the user has finished, he/she can reload the saved file in order to calculate the degree vector for all the nodes (or specific nodes) of the network. A unique feature of the Calculator is that it calculates and outputs the graphlet degree vector for all the possible graphs with a size between $s$ and $s + 4$, that means, up to the size of the network. When the size of the network is larger than the number of vertices in the graph, the degree vector will be calculated for all the graphs.

The calculation process is simple and can be done in several minutes, but depending on the size of the network, it can take longer time. When the user changes the size of the input network, the calculation process will start over again from the beginning.
